Instead, I would get an infinitely recursive set of empty folders:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><code>jeff@ubuntu:~$ ls \/smb\/myserver\/<br \/>\nbackup\/  info\/  media\/  pictures\/  share\/<br \/>\njeff@ubuntu:~$ ls \/smb\/myserver\/media<br \/>\nbackup\/  info\/  media\/  pictures\/  share\/<br \/>\njeff@ubuntu:~$ ls \/smb\/myserver\/media\/media\/media\/media\/media<br \/>\nbackup\/  info\/  media\/  pictures\/  share\/<br \/>\njeff@ubuntu:~$ <\/code><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>In the end, I inadvertently solved the problem by installing samba.  <\/p>\n<blockquote><p><code>sudo apt-get install smbfs<\/code><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Otherwise, installation worked just like the Internets said.  The most important bit is to configure your \/etc\/auto* files correctly.  Here&#8217;s a rundown of mine:<\/p>\n<p>My \/etc\/auto.master:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><code>#misc\t\/etc\/auto.misc --timeout=60<br \/>\n\/smb\t\/etc\/auto.smb<br \/>\n#\/misc\t\/etc\/auto.misc<br \/>\n\/net\t\/etc\/auto.net<\/code><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Additionally, \/etc\/auto.smb.yoursevername must contain your username and password, and only be read-write accessible by root:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><code>username=yourusername<br \/>\npassword=yourpassword<\/code><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Resources:<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/help.ubuntu.com\/community\/Autofs\">This page<\/a> was helpful.
